PRESS RELEASE - IT'S LIKE THIS ... VOLUME 1

This album is like stepping back in time, into a gallery of extraordinary artworks that have been brought to life through music.

Each piece is unique and the music has been molded with the vocals to create colour, warmth, depth and feeling that evoke many and varied emotional responses in the listener.

With a version of Danny Boy like you’ve never heard it before. Imagine you are standing on a cliff overlooking the cliffs of Ireland. The view is magnificent with a gentle, melancholy mist gently swirling around. With a low irish whistle played by Sydney-based musician, Susan Andrews, the mood and atmosphere of this rendition is enchanting.

A lilting version of The Girl with the Black Velvet Band has a refreshing vibrancy, created through the skillful musicianship of Peter Anderson from Melbourne on Dulcimer skipping playfully around the singing.

The depth of sorrow in Skyeboat Song has been captured in the vocals with music, again by Susan Andrews and harmonies that create the image of a boat sailing off into the unknown.

In vibrant contrast to the soothing, melancholy tones of Danny Boy, Skyeboat Song and Moreton Bay, are the lively and energetic songs such as Sipping Cyder, Coulter’s Candy and The Stoutest Man of the Forty Twa. The foot will tap along and you will feel a definite lift in your spirits when you hear these songs.

The Stoutest Man of the Forty Twa has brought Tom’s lilting Scottish brogue to the fore and has added a magnificent colour to the tapestry of the music on this album.

Amazing Grace provides a powerful finale to what is a superb collection of music and song, with the inclusion of local singers providing a backing choir resulting in a stirring “goose bump” finish to the album.

This album is a definite must for anyone who loves these classics.
