Kelly Dixon
Kelly Dixon is one of those quiet achievers behind the outstanding success of many Australian country music artists.
A retiring, shy bushman by nature, Kelly's extraordinary talent with the pen has enabled him to capture many aspects of Australia life, history and culture.
Having grown up in the bush, Kelly has spent most of his life in the Queensland and Northern Territory outback, working as a stockman, drover, truck driver and grazier.
With his wife Marian, he has written many country songs for numerous recording artists in Australia.
He also has a number of books published including novels and collections of poetry.
Kelly started writing from a very young age with his first works published in a country newspaper at the age of twelve years.
His list achievements is vast and includes being inducted in the South Australian Country Music Hall of Fame, Winner of the TSA Song Maker Award, Winner of the Heritage and Book of the Year at the Australian Bush Laureate Awards presented in Tamworth.
Tony Brooks (Author / Songwriter / Poet) writes in his Foreword how "Kelly has been one of the driving forces behind the great revival of authentic bush poetry in Australia and is an inspiration to many of our up and coming poets."
He goes on to say "The work is authentic - from a writer who has lived the scenes he potrays so vividly!"
